Figure It Out is the second single by newly formed Newport band The Socials, made up of Messrs Fernquest, Wiley and Woody. No first names required. The follow up to debut single Lost For, released in December, is equally as riotous and laddish as the former. Laddish doesn’t mean bad though, lads get bad reps these days, you can be a lad without being a dickhead. Sometimes.
Although steeped in indie dance tradition of the 00s and with killer riffs and bass lines, it doesn’t sound tired, in fact quite the opposite. It’s got a bit of Hard-Fi about it, but it’s actually loads better. Easy to beat! No, you shut up.
How to sum up Figure It Out? Well, if you think you might fancy a bit of a sesh, then you probably fancy a bit of a sesh, and the chances are that the desire for a sesh will get the better of you. But if you’re not sure and you need a little bit of convincing, then one listen of Figure It Out will make your mind up for you. You’re going on the sesh.
There’s hooks everywhere on this two and a bit minute ripper of a tune and I’ve honestly played the fuck out of it these last few days. Top notch. Hit it.
